I met WillemVanDenEnde and MarcEvers for the first time at the London XPDay. What they were saying made it clear to me that the conference format (especially the use of presentation sessions) can make it difficult to juggle the disparate needs of the attendees, which as I see them are:

1. to spread the word about Agile and its successes

2. to describe and share the values and practices that we find useful (or not useful) as we use Agile software development in our work

3. to build a community of friendships and partnerships around our shared beliefs and experiences

So for me, Agile Open is mostly about achieving point 3 through the iterative application of point 2. Hence I think of it as:

- for experienced practitioners

- to exchange radical ideas, cement friendships, and spark new insights into agile software development

- so that we have the energy, enthusiasm and tools to create more of the work we enjoy doing, and to sustain us through the inevitable ups and downs of actually doing it
