My goals:

* build knowledge from the fragments various people hold

* establish mechanisms for disseminating that knowledge

* make spreading what we learn a goal of the open space

* work out how to manage all the fascinating discussions I know will crop up through to something concrete

I'll put some more blurb from my original email here:

I would like to see an event in which there is much more time available for idea/knowledge building than with conferences. Through discussion and other formats I think we can move the state of knowledge forward. I don't feel this happens well through traditional conference mechanisms. I'd like to look carefully at how the event will be structured. Goal-setting for after-the-event outcomes would be useful, I think.

My preference is somewhat against using the event as a means to explore new conference sessions unless we see that as a good way to build knowledge. If the main objective is to create new conference sessions I don't immediately see the value of it (well, not enough value, anyway). But I'm open to persuasion on this :-)

On the other hand, it is useful to set some objective for a "product" of the event. I would like to focus on outward dissemination of whatever we come up with. I could identify:

* new conference sessions

* talks to other groups and networks

* talks from other groups and networks (though I am mainly thinking of outward dissemination of new ideas here)

* articles in publications

* new software?

* book(s) (!)

and I hope some others too.
