| Considerations for having a theme or not.
Pro:
- Theme gives the conference clear focus
- The theme Communication and Collaboration is wide enough to not be too constraining (see Con: )
Con:
- A theme may be too constraining. At another open space conference with a clear theme, the theme was emphasized in the opening. This paralyzed people in sessions: 'what do we do with the theme in this session'?. A solution for this, is to choose a theme, but not emphasize it too much (e.g. not use it in bold font in invitatations, and not emphasize it in the sessions). Nynke wove the theme unobtrusively in the invitation - this looks like the way to go forward with the theme.
- A theme may make the open space less open.
